Log 02: Only you have the power to create happiness within yourself.

 

Intro

Yes its true, happiness can mean many things to each and every one of us. Some think its having lots of money, while others may think happiness is living with your loved one forever happily ever after. While those two things are great and I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t want more money and to spend their life with someone they truly value, happiness shouldn’t be an extension that others provide. Instead we should embrace ourselves, learn to be one with ourselves during hard times and good times. See when you depend on others such as for happiness or any other emotional needs, you create a single point of failure (SPOF) – is a part of a system that, if it fails, will stop the entire system from working. SPOFs are undesirable in any system with a goal of high availability or reliability, be it a business practice, software application, or other industrial system. Now we aren’t talking about actual computers here but instead we are talking about the most sophisticated yet magnificent system in existence, the human mind.

 

Being alone isn’t a bad thing, unfortunately we live in a society that likes to portray a picture that those who spend too much time alone are unhealthy physiologically. We can get into a whole debate about this topic but what I am trying to get to is, being someone who has dealt with an abundance of stress, anxiety, and compulsions, I too have had my days where I found myself depressed, alone and during my most darkest nights I even questioned my existence. But where there is darkness there is always light and throughout my journey I realized that I am the only person that is responsible for my actions, my thoughts and last but not least my own happiness. No one else can take that away from you.

 

In conclusion

Just as depression is a state of mind, so is happiness. Choose to be happy at all times of your life, wake up and count out the good things you have going on for yourself instead of only seeing the bad. Snap out of the negative trance you might be living in as a result of OCD and its side effects.As for those who are in a relationship and may be having some difficulty ill leave you with this,  choose to be happy while you are alone so when someone that is worth your time and energy comes along their happiness will be optional.
